About Me
I’m Marcela Di Paolo, an English-to-Spanish audiovisual translator and subtitler with nearly two decades of experience. My work spans films, documentaries, TV shows, webinars, educational materials, streaming content, and communication-driven projects.
What I enjoy most about translating is not only language itself, but the privilege of helping stories, voices, and ideas resonate naturally across cultures. I love how my work is deeply connected to tone, spoken language, and the emotional flow of communication, as these elements have always been present in my life, shaping my approach to subtitling from the very beginning.
My professional and personal path has always been shaped by multicultural experiences, travel, music, movement, language, and human-centered practices.
Before fully devoting myself to audiovisual translation, I worked internationally in various fields, including aviation, diving instruction, media production, telephonic interpretation, intercultural assistance, and holistic and therapeutic practices. These diverse experiences continue to influence the way I understand language and human connection today.
Beyond translation, I offer English pronunciation and conversation coaching for Spanish speakers, with a special focus on fluency, clarity, and confident self-expression.

My Journey
Long before language became my profession, I was already fascinated by the sound, rhythm, and emotional texture of English. Since I was very young, learning this new language has been intertwined with music, curiosity, communication, and a desire to explore other cultures and ways of seeing the world.
After graduating as a Scientific, Technical, and Literary Translator in Buenos Aires, my path took me far beyond conventional translation. I became an international flight attendant for an American airline, traveled extensively, and later became a scuba diving instructor, living and working in different destinations across the Caribbean, Brazil, Spain, and Central America.
Years later, those experiences unexpectedly opened the door to audiovisual storytelling. After collaborating on a scuba diving-related media project and writing scripts for a television show aired on ESPN, I was introduced to the world of subtitling and audiovisual translation, a field that immediately resonated with my natural interests in sound, narrative, voice, and cultural insight.
Since then, audiovisual translation has gradually become the heart of my professional life. What began almost by chance evolved into a long-term vocation that continues to grow stronger with time. One of the things I value most about this work is its endless variety: each project offers the opportunity to enter a different world, voice, perspective, or culture.
Alongside translation, my journey has also included music, singing, jazz performance, dance, movement practices, yoga, holistic studies, astrology, reflexology, meditation, and other forms of human-centered exploration. Rather than separate paths, I see them as different expressions of my curiosity about meaning, communication, and human experience.
Today, all of those experiences continue to shape the way I work with language: with attention, sensitivity, adaptability, and a deep respect for the voice behind every story.

Creating subtitles is much more than fitting words on a screen. I enjoy finding the balance between readability, timing, and natural dialogue so audiences can focus on the story —not the subtitles.

I prepare accurate transcripts for interviews, documentaries, webinars, and audiovisual productions, creating a reliable foundation for translation, subtitling, or publication.
Quality Assurance

Before content reaches its audience, I carefully review subtitles and translated material for language quality, consistency, formatting, timing, and compliance with client specifications.

Beyond audiovisual projects, I also work with written content across a variety of industries, always adapting each text to its intended audience while maintaining clarity, consistency, and a natural flow.
Translation
From educational resources and tourism materials to wellness and communication-focused content, I translate with the goal of making every text read as though it were originally written in Spanish.
Editing & Proofreading
Sometimes a text simply needs another pair of experienced eyes. I review translations and original Spanish content to improve grammar, style, consistency, and readability while preserving the author’s voice.
Post-editing (MTPE)
When machine translation is part of the workflow, I provide careful post-editing that combines efficiency with the quality and fluency only a professional linguist can bring.

Each one has brought its own voice, audience, and challenges, and that’s one of the things I enjoy most about this profession.
